How to Connect a GoDaddy Domain

A step-by-step guide to buying, configuring, and forwarding your custom domain with masking.

💡Before you start: You'll need a GoDaddy account and the SuperNinja destination URL you want your domain to point to. The entire process takes about 5–10 minutes. DNS changes may take up to 48 hours to propagate globally.

1. Visit GoDaddy and search for your domain

Go to godaddy.com, type the domain name you want in the search bar, and click Search Domains. GoDaddy will show you available options and pricing.

Click  "Get it"  on your chosen domain:

The red highlight shows exactly where to click to add the domain to your cart.

2. Purchase the domain

Complete the checkout process. Once your payment is confirmed, GoDaddy will show a success screen with your new domain name. Click "Continue" to proceed to your domain management dashboard.

Click  "Continue":

Your domain is registered! Click Continue to move to the next step.

3. Open the Domain dashboard

You'll land on your domain's management page showing renewal info, security status, and quick links. To connect your domain to an external URL, click the "Connect Domain" button in the top-right corner.

4. Start the domain connection

A modal will appear asking how you'd like to connect your domain. You'll see several options: connect to a GoDaddy website, set up email, connect to a GoDaddy domain, connect to an external destination, or connect to any website. Select "Connect to any website" — the last card on the right.

5. Enter your destination URL

A form will appear with a "Forward to any site" input field. Paste the full URL of your SuperNinja destination site. Then click "Connect" to proceed.

💡 Make sure the URL starts with https://

Paste your SuperNinja URL in the orange-highlighted field, then click Connect:

6. Review the connection settings

GoDaddy will display a confirmation screen showing: "When user goes to: yourname.com → They'll be redirected to: [your URL]".

Verify the redirect mapping looks correct, then open Advanced Options (highlighted in red):

7. Select "Forward with masking"

Under Types of redirect, you'll see three options: Permanent, Temporary, and Forward with masking. Select "Forward with masking" — this keeps your custom domain visible in the browser address bar even after the redirect, giving your site a clean, branded URL.

Masking means visitors always see yourname.com in their browser, not the underlying URL.

Select  "Forward with masking":

You can also fill in the Title, Description, and Keywords fields for SEO.

8. Confirm — you're done!

Click Connect on the final screen, and GoDaddy will process the configuration. You'll see a "Domain connection: Done!" success screen.

The green success card confirms your domain is now connected and forwarding with masking.

9. Verify your connection is working ✅

Go back to your GoDaddy Domain dashboard and click on Domain in the left sidebar. Navigate to the Products tab. You should see a "Connect Domain" card showing:

🔍"You set up forwarding to sites.super.myninja.ai/…/index.html"— this confirms your domain is correctly pointing to your destination URL.

✅ Look for  "You set up forwarding to…"  — that's your confirmation!

The green-highlighted Connect Domain card confirms your forwarding is active. The URL shown is where your domain is pointing.

🎉 You're all set!
Your custom domain is now live and forwarding correctly. Visit your domain in a browser to confirm everything works end-to-end. If it's not working yet, wait up to 48 hours for DNS propagation.
